Integration of LINCS and KnowEnG Resources

The Data Coordination and Integration Center (DCIC) for the Library of Integrated Network-based Signatures (LINCS) program consists of three sub-centers (Mount Sinai, Miami and Cincinnati) that jointly provide support for data management and integration across the LINCS and BD2K programs. Integrating iLINCs with other data portals being developed by the BD2K Network remains an unsolved important problem. As a significant step towards addressing this challenge, the proposed collaboration will coordinate the DCIC activities at University of Cincinnati with the research activities in the KnowEnG Center at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Two main goals of the collaboration are:

1) to integrate the LINCS L1000 and other -omics data, including relevant metadata, into the KnowEnG Knowledge Network, and

2) to utilize the methods developed by KnowEnG towards improving the search for similarities between L1000-derived and related signatures.

We specifically propose to develop an interface for continuously updating the KnowEnG system with L1000, P100 and other LINCS datasets, as well as broader genome-wide omics profiles available through iLINCS and other resources developed by DCIC. We will help integrate the resulting KnowEnG methods, knowledge-network-enhanced signatures, and similarity measures for improved identification of biologically related cellular states that are of direct interest to the LINCS Consortium.
