“Graph-Based Characterization of Gene Sets”
Greg Linkowski, Graduate Research Assistant.

Description:
Many gene sets exist which researchers have identified as highly related to susceptibility for specific diseases. This answers the questions of who and what, but leaves us struggling to answer the how and why. How are these genes related? Why does this combination have the effect it does? Meanwhile, KnowEnG has collected millions of various gene-gene relationships from various sources into a single massive network. I am exploring methods of leveraging this graph-based data to characterize gene sets. The goal is to identify what kind of features in the graph can be isolated as unique identifiers of a particular gene set.
