R25 Partnership
The Fisk-UIUC KnowEnG R25 program is a partnership between the KnowEnG center, at UIUC and Mayo Clinic, and Fisk University to provide under-represented minority undergraduate students with curricular training and experience in Bioinformatics and Big Data. Funded through the BD2K Enhancing Diversity in Biomedical Data Science (R25) program, the activities offered by the KnowEnG center will equip undergraduate students to confidently pursue graduate training in Biomedical Sciences and Computer Science, and enhance teaching and research in Bioinformatics at Fisk University.
The list of activities include,
- Remote access to Bioinformatics seminar courses offered at UIUC.
- Provide online educational resources.
- Summer research experience in Bioinformatics and Big Data for Fisk Students.
- Hands-on workshops for Fisk faculty to explore current technologies and tools.
- Foster long-term collaborations between Fisk University, UIUC and Mayo Clinic.
The partnership began in Spring 2016 and will continue until 2020.
